News like this makes me feel good. It’s a sign that we’re really winning the war against Fake Food.
And that means more and more people are switching to Real Food – and getting healthier as a result.
Butter sales are finally outpacing margarine sales in the US – and that is reason to rejoice.
Why? Because butter is healthier than margarine. In fact, the hyper-processed tub of spread is a health disaster. Margarine is laden with PUFA, which we’ve learned before is highly unstable and likely to become dangerously oxidized.
In addition to the heart disease promoting effects of that oxidized PUFA, margarine is typically teeming with artificial trans-fats. And trans-fats are even worse for you.
The worst part? Most people switch from delicious butter to frankly boring margarine because they think it’s healthier. Because the food pyramid says so. Because oblivious doctors say so.
It’s heartening to see that people are thinking for themselves and getting healthy.
You should do the same, and join me in a vow to never eat margarine (or any other “vegetable” oils) ever again. They promote heart disease and systemic inflammation. They reduce lifespans and quality of life.
“Vegetable” oils are an industrial food product and have no place in your diet. Just look at the way “vegetable” oils, like those that go into margarine, are produced:
Could I make it any clearer that these industrial food products have no place in a healthy diet?
Skip the margarine and have some butter instead. I recommend Kerrygold.
Your heart (and your abs) will thank you.
